Transportation

  • Never transport dry ice in the passenger compartment of a car or cab of a truck. If this is not possible, the load should be well insulated and adequate ventilation must be maintained
  • Secure the load compartment doors in the open position before entering
  • Ensure that there is adequate ventilation during transportation and that the heating / air supply is witched to draw in ‘fresh air’ from outside the vehicle
  • Unload product as soon as possible at the end of the journey and move to a suitable storage location.

Storage

Cellice will supply your order in suitable dry ice containers, which are heavily insulated to slow down the sublimation rate and maintain the quality of the product for longer.

ALWAYS store dry ice in an area which is:

  • Well ventilated
  • Above ground
  • Out of direct sunlight and sources of heat
  • Secure – to prevent unauthorised access.

Working with dry ice

Many applications of dry ice result in the sublimation of the dry ice volume into the working area. A small amount of dry ice will sublime to a large volume of CO2 gas, so seek professional advice on suitable ventilation systems in your working area.

  • Never handle dry ice with bare hands as it can cause severe cold burns and frostbite
  • Do not allow direct contact with items to be frozen as superficial damage / freezer burn may occur
  • Keep dry ice away from children
  • Use an insulated container to store dry ice
  • Never place dry ice in a working refrigerator or freezer
  • Never put dry ice into drinks
  • Never play with dry ice.

Disposal

Although dry ice sublimates leaving no residue, ensure that any surplus dry ice is disposed of in a secure, well-ventilated area, away any children and animals. Any left-over packaging should be disposed of with care and recycled wherever possible.
